I know it's just the beginning of the flying show season in the US, but I'd like to announce that pilot Pre-registration is now available on the NEAT fair website at:

www.neatfair.org

Pilots who came to the 2000 and 2001 fairs have probably already received a paper copy in the mail. If you have not it was probably because your handwriting was illegable on the AMA form and we could not find you on the web.... but that was not many...

Please take the time to read all the info on the pre-reg pages, there will be some changes in this years format.

Also......

This years "dinner/social" will be on Friday night, not saturday as was last years. We also will be going "indoors" to a restaurant in Roscoe about a 1/2hr from the field (easy drive). Seating is limited, so get your reservation checks in ASAP. More details are on the site.

This leaves Saturday night open for the very first NEAT Fair Saturday Night Slow Flyer contest!!! (weather permitting). Details have not been firmed up, but here is at two of the rules.....

model must weight 16 ounces or less.

no passive lights (ground based) can be used to aid in the contest. Only lights on-board the aircraft will be allowed.

One thing I can tell you! you will need a model that can turn VERY TIGHT to accopmplish most of the tasks!

Keep an eye out for the formal rules. They should be firmed-up by the end of June.

If you have any questions, please direct them to neatfair@optonline.net

Thanks

Looks Like the BCSF's steak and brew night will be pushed to Saturday. Members and Honorary members take note.

Carlos, my mouth started watering as soon as I read that. I'm going to have to start planning the trip early this year. I wonder how big a box they'll let me bring with me on the plane? :D

Watch out with too much beer or you'll end up sleeping in Goodtill's tent!!

The BCSF tent will also be hosting informal tech chats Friday and Saturday. We will soon post some of the lectures.

Greg.... you were pretty early... really #28. We started the Pilot #'s at 100, so we would not confuse them with channel #s.

Does anyone have any hotel recommendations for the area?

I saw the list of hotels on the Neat Fair website, but I am looking for a more personal recommendation of a nice hotel with a fairly short drive to the flying site.

Thanks,

Thanks,

Paul, this late in the year, it will be difficult to find anything real close. You might end up in Walton, Roscoe or even as far out as liberty.

you might get lucky if there has been a cancellation, but some of the favorite ones are the Riverside Cafe, Downsville Motel, Smith's colonial, and the Walton Hotel.
