Hi all,
this is my first post, and I'm already asking for help.... :o
I have an old kit from Great Planes, an AT-6, that for some reason or another I've never build.
For those who want to work on the specs:
SPECIFICATIONS:
Stock Number: TOPA0130
Wingspan: 69.4 in (1760 mm)
Wing Area: 713 sq in (46 sq dm)
Weight: 7.5-10 lb (3405-4540 g)
Wing Loading: 24-32 oz/sq ft (73-98 g/sq dm)
Fuselage Length: 49.25 in (1250 mm)
Engine Required: 2-stroke .61-.90 cu in (10-15 cc) or 4-stroke .91-1.20 cu in (15-20 cc)
I also have the retract set from century jet (750gr aprox), and I was wondering...
Since I bought it, I converted to electric, and I don't fly any glow, so why don't convert this oldie (still in the box, BTW) to electric? I would love to have an electric sport flier.
So, I decided to ask for help.
Could someone suggest motor, batteries and regulator?
thanks,

Could someone suggest motor, batteries and regulator?
AXI 4130/16 motor
2 x TP3s2p 4200mah Li-Po Battery, or
2 x "Hi-Po" 3cell 4400mah Li-Po battery, or
2 x TP 3s3p 6000mah Lip-Po battery
I wouldn't use a regulator, I would use a 4 or 5 cell nicd or nimh battery, but thats my preference.

Hi.
Regarding this conversion, MOTOCALC suggests:
Medusa Research 028-056-1400
Thunder Power TP1950 LIPOS (6 by 6)
Generic 15x12in Prop w/4.5:1 Gearbox
the motocalc suggestion is completely different from yours!
my feeling, it seems comparing a small car with a ferrari.
any suggestion?

Will be using an AF 25G (BL) w/13x10, UBEC & Kontronik 3SL40-6-18 on 15 NiXx; maybe 5S someday.
Here’s some other conversions I’ve done: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=428426 .

Rick's is a 0.40; not 0.60.

I saw that... my plan is for the Great Planes or Top Flite AT-6 texan kit (all small pieces of wood), so I think I'll need something bigger as electric kit.
I'm sure I'll be able to remove some weight by changing wood qualities, and probably by making a lot of holes.... still I need some help on the power plant.

My Velox is a .60 conversion:

Looked at the 4130/16 w/15x10; its close to the same propeller performance as my geared Mega, but it burns up 155watts in the motor compared to 83 in the Mega.
An outrunner on studs though, is an easy mounting configuration for an AT-6.

I fly the glow version of the plane. It tends to bounce a lot on landing, and you had better take the time to reinforce the landing gear blocks now, or you will be replacing them later.
