Hi,
I know I can't use my radio for my rc planes.I need to get a radio for my Fe boats.I'm going to race ,thats my intention.Which radio do you prefer? The other deciding factor for me is that I know I wanna try sail boats as well. Can I use pisto type radio for sail boats? Is there a disadvantage using stick radio for FE boats?
Any suggestions will help.Thanks.

For slow or sailing boats, stick radios are preferred but for fast electrics I cant imagine anything else but a pistol.

I have to agree with Jim on this as well. The stick radios were hard for me to use with my FE boat. Now I have a pistol/wheel and life is good.

For a sail boat the sail winch control should be a maintained type or without spring return, thus you can draw in your sail and maintain a steady control by letting go of the stick. The constant adjusting is less and response time is slower. Some radios you can remove the springs in the back to fit your needs.

I drive my FE boats by a wheel and trigger, pistol. Things happen fast and thinking is fast, always making the split second adjustment in speed and direction. My first boat I tried a stick and didn't feel natural so went to a pistol. If you're like me, I need anything that will help me keep control. I drive my cars, boats and years ago even a sailplane by wheel. Price of radio systems aren't to bad so maybe 1 of each.

I think of the $800 plus in that boat doing 60MPH around the pond and don't need some stick gettin in the way while I trying to drive if you know what I mean...LOL. good luck. Craig

Hi

I learnt to run on a pistol radio and I find with fastelectrics sticks are just as good

Many people still use stick in fast electrics and nitro

it boils down to personla preference , experience and choice of radio
