I've been using mine for about 6 months. Works perfectly. Went to calibrate it a couple of weeks ago and it was still dead on :D
Can't beat it for $20 shipped.

1) Does it have a tear feature?

2) How many total grams will it weigh?
(I'm not sure exactly what 550 x .1 gram means, but if it means max weight is only 55g then it won't work for me.)

0.1g resolution. 550g max in increments of 0.1g.

Its called "Tare"...and yes most digi scales have that function

550 grams is the total weight the scale can handle... .1 is the accucary of the measurment.... 28 grams = ounce....16 ounces = pound

the tare feature will allow you to zero out the scale while putting something of weight....perhaps a paper plate to weigh more stuff.

I dont think a calibration weight is needed....just use a U.S. nickel.....5 grams:)

Yes it has the tare feature.
I didn't think I needed a calibration weight. Then I bougtht one several months after having the scale. Didn't need to adjust the scale at all.
Anybody wanna buy a calibration weight?? :p
In other words, don't waste the extra money, use the nickel method :D
Unless you are jeweler, pharmacist or drug dealer, I don't think you are gonna be using enough to worry about it.
