View Full Version : Assigning momentary switches on Optic 6

Over on the Aerial photography board we have been discussing using the Optic 6 for triggering a camera shutter trip servo. I and several others have programmed the gear switch to trip a shutter, but this requires pushing the switch back and forth. We would like to reassign one of the momentary controls (trainer switch or engine cut button) to control the servo. I've not found a way to do this in the manual. Is this possible?

I think we covered this before and AFAIK there's no way to do this without some sort of switch in the plane. Mikrodesigns makes one such thing. I think a fully user programmable switch in a tx would be a great idea! Sorta 6+1 channels (share a piece of one of the other channels)

It seems funny that most of the slider switches are assignable, but the momentary switches are not. I'll bet it would be a simple software change, but I don't know how you would update the radio's firmware.

The SW SEL fuinction allows all sorts of assignments and I guess a simple add to the progarm would work on the Optic, but I do not think you will see it on such a "low end" (and I mean that nicely!) computer radio. Too bad - would be a nice compliment to great radio and would allow the "X-Port" type thing easily for lights, bombs, etc.
