New to RC. I bought a Nikko Wavebuster Last Christmas and finally tried it on our pond. Iwas very disappointed in the speed of the boat. Any suggestions on how to speed it up. Can the motor be replaced and how difficult would it be?

Thanks,

Wil...

You may be able to replace the motor. Nikko products are r/c TOYS; there website (http://www.nikko-rc.com/) even says so.

As quoted on the Nikko website: "Share in the happiness of children throughout the world. Toys are treasures that give children unlimited dreams and hopes. Radio controlled toys which use the latest in rapidly developing technology, are especially valued for introducing children to science in their developing years and for being healthy playthings that develop calm judgment and reflexes."

You'd be better off with a Zig Zag Racer (http://www.hobbyzonesports.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=HBZ3400) or the Reef Racer (http://www.aquacraftmodels.com/boats/hcab14-main.html).

You can get some nicer entry level RTR fast electric speed boats, with 7.2V batteries, and charger for under $300. The Proboat Sundancer (http://www.horizonhobby.com/Shop/ByCategory/Product/Default.aspx?ProdID=PRB2100) is $160; the Traxxas Blast (http://www.traxxas.com/products/marine/blast/trx_blast.htm) is about $120; and the Hobbico Aquacraft Hammer (http://www.aquacraftmodels.com/boats/hcab10-main.html) is about $130. 7.2V NiCd batteries range from $11 - $60+; 7.2V NiMh batteries range from $16 - $80+. A good AC/DC charger can be bought for about $40.
