Hi,
Im thinking about building my own model hovercraft.
The idea is to base the model around a bike innertube as the
skirt/cushion. This would mean the model wil be circular, im not
looking for speed so this is ok.
For the cushion thrust, im looking at using a prop from a desktop fan.
Does anyone know if this would be suitable, i.e. pitch and stuff?

Sounds cool, maybe you can use a blower type fan for the cushion since they
tend to take up less space and a standard plane motor and prop for the
thrust. You can either have the motor itself rotate for direction or use
rudders behind the prop.
I love doing things like that myself. Once made a boat using the blower
and output tube from a hair dryer. This thing really flew but since I was
just starting out and did not know the motor was not supposed to be under
water it did not last very long. If I remember correctly it was a standard
540 type motor.
My projects are a little more refined these days.
Have a look at this
