Hello,

Building my first airboat. Please advise on the installation of a puller propeller on the engine. Is the drive washer 1st (scratchy side towards the engine), prop 2nd, washer nut 3rd & lastly the spinner ?

New to prop installation & dont wish to have any accident.

Thanks

The prop driver is part of the engine and usually is pre-fitted to the shaft with either a splined area or a taper. The prop goes on next - convex side forward (usually has printing and the size on the front too); then the washer (it protects the prop from the propnut and shares the pressure out over a wider area). It then depends on the type of spinner. Some are a backplate with a washer included and that goes on instead of or as well as the normal washer. Then it's held on with the prop nut. The spinner itself can be fitted in a variety of ways too - from a couple of self tapping screws to a purpose designed shaft extension. make sure it's all close fitting to the shaft and that the prop is balanced. A huge amount of damaging vibration can result if the thing is out of balance.

Any doubts, it would help if you could post a pic of the engine front end and the bits you want to fit.
