Transmitter Battery Question

I have a Futaba Heli Radio and was wondering if it is better to keep it hooked to the charger between uses, or charge it prior to use. Havent been out a whole lot and wondered.

Nicad batterys need to be cycled.
Better to let it sit, off, and discharge passively than to keep it on the charger. Then charge it the night before a flight day.
Nicads will build up a "memory" and become useless if kept on a charger.

Essentially they will refuse to release the energy stored in the cells.
