Hi Guys,

I would normally be found in the plane part of this forum, but recently I have decided to build an R/C airboat. It has a .40 glo engine with a 10X6 prop. Has anybody built a boat like this before. It is made from 6mm ply (its the thinist the shop had) any ideas how fast it will go, it has a flat bottom and is aprox 1ft by 2 ft.

thx matt

I have interest in building a "swamp" type airboat too, but I want to power it with quiet brushless electric. I'm thinking 2' x 3' or so. Doesn't have to be fast, but I need it stable with good control in turns and power to move over underwater weeds that have grown to the surface. Thinking about a rotating motor mount for directional control rather than rear mount rudder type setup.

Is this DUMB or do-able? Any ideas???

Oh yeah, I'd like to have a remote control video camera mounted on it too

i think the rudder is better. i've never seen air boats with moving mtrs. don't think its safe. need them to be mounted well. stable depends on the skids on bottom.
all air boats will go over weeds, and dry land too.

a camera is avable at www.micromark.com
and other places.
