You people have taking a good concept and ruined it with these ugly hydros your producing. I mean look at that thing. Thats the one with open sponson's that won't even work on water. Seen it before in a vid and it could barely fly if you could call it that.

Calling it a hydro is just cruel, a hydro must be clean to achieve speeds in excess of 200MPH.

Hi

I was really interested in the hydrofoams. Then I saw your comments here. Got to watch who you buy from it would seem.

I have been fascinated with model aircraft for years but never actually taken the plunge and tried it. Ready to fly models are now the norm so it would be easy for me to start.

These hydrofaoms seem to be of that ilk with the added advantage of not having to worry about hard landings, Submarine landings might be a problem :-)

Up till now I have not seen the original ones designed by (what his name) for sale. Does anyone know of a good design that is available to buy in the UK. How much should I expect to pay for one.

And lastly, how difficult are they to fly. Lets face it, if I can’t

What to purchase for a 10 ounce build Guaranteed:
Here is how to get in the 10oz range......guarranteed

GWS pico servos 6 grams each no extensions straight to recever. My favorites are polk hobby 4.3 gram xtra micro minis.

Glue servos in do not screw mount them do not use grommets supplied.

Use 1/2 ounce or less receviers. velcro in no foam or add on protection

Use .75 ounce or less motor control do not use bullet connects. velcro in no addtional extensions to receiver.

use #2 wood screws for motor to plywood mount no blind nuts, washers, add glue for safe measure.

DO NOT use prop adapters needing nuts, the prop save o-ring type is worst case , I glue my props on using no prop adapter.

Use 48 gram or less motors do not use bullet connects.

Use a battery weighing no more than 1.75 ounces including all your wire and plug ends.

Notice nothing I said relates to build technique. These are all hard components money can buy. NOW reverse engineer the weights of your own components and you will see why your 12+ ounces.

If someone is over 10 ounces using these established weights, lets look at it individually..............

Further items to address if interested:

Leave plywood skids off and test fly off grass or water were it is not needed. Then if your happy you will know what it cost you to have hard surface capabilities.

Get rid of control horn hookup adjustability excess hardware. Use z bend to z
bend slgihtly long and then just do another z bend or two to get the center position you need.

Hello,
I agree with you guys. Oh boy, that is unusually ugly. Meanwhile in Canada….I have been going the other way, trying to make a version a little more scale. No plans used but I have a good straight edge. :D So thanks China, one more reason to build our own. :)

Looks great Cpt. Although I will tell you that none has been Able to make the front wing work, including me. Makes them fly terrible. My guess is that with it ,you would almost have to have the CG right behind it to work, and that would be hard to do. But give it a shot.... You can always cut it off.

Cpt. Krunch's Hydro looks SWEET... I would just put that on water as just a boat and run it like that (glass it and run an internal electric motor and a prop..I wonder why the boat guys aren't doing that?...making Hydros from Depron and glassing them)...

if you get it to fly, that would be a bonus... :D

BTW.. that Chinese Hydro looks like BUTT

You forgot the "just send money" part and are about 3 months too late bro.

Why did you post in the 3D section (with the same text!) and then post a different boat? If you are going to scam an idea, at least make it a good scam. You are not even trying

I wonder if these guys know that about 100 people have tried this before (and have had their handed to them by people that know better!)

These things are all over ebay now too.....and of course most are copies that spawned on RCG.

Hi H

Up till now I have not seen the original ones designed by (what his name) for sale. Does anyone know of a good design that is available to buy in the UK. How much should I expect to pay for one.

'UAVpilot' is the original designer. Oh! how we all waiting for his unit.

In the mean time, several guy make their own unit for sales. For example, Miss Hangar will be a good choice, but the list price is USD49.0.

Too bad, some guy like this 'pengfeixu'
pengfeixu ebay list (http://cgi.ebay.com/Hydro-foam-Hydrofoam-Spaceship-R-C-boat-plane-car_W0QQitemZ6000240983QQcategoryZ1200QQssPageName ZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
do ugly things, he even steal the video from other ebay seller

('mfinventor' as you can clear find in the video). This mfinventor unit in last ebay bid is US$15.5 . this unit show a certain hydro-foam performance in the video (run like speed boat, race car & flying like a Funfly) with some closeup shot. With this price, is fairly good enough for me.

Hello UAV,
I did the foreward wing on my last version and it works great. (see pic) It is nice and stable with no tendancy to drop the nose in a turn. It is a 1" flat bottom airfoil set 2 cm below the wing center at 0 degrees. The CG was set at 20%. However, this might be a different story...the body is an airfoil this time.
Thanks Akera, yeah, I managed to get the others to fly so this will be 'bout the same, just faster.
Cheers,
Cptn. K

I have different theory on this one, the CG of original design is near the front because the bottom is in curve shape.
Since this one both the top & bottom is in curve shape, so I think adding front wing should be ok.

I hope that you get what you paid for and were not scammed. If this is a site sponsor or a poster that has been around here for awhile with a good reputation, you may be ok.....I would post more details in the "vendors" section and ask if anyone has dealt with them before.

These days you better be a little leery of anyone that just shows up with no history and then claims to have the latest and greatest for the best price. There is no :eek:ing way I send them any money. There are too many decent vendors here and folks you can count on to take a chance for a slightly better price and iffy quality. Maybe this guy is fine and his kits are the bomb. I will never know, that is for sure.

These are just my thoughts...nothing personal.

Even though I've seen some nasty butts in my time, I think that's an insult to butt. You couldn't pay me to crash that thing. I'd be willing to drive over it for you with my car though. :)

If my cats ate a bunch of foam, they would have a better plane/boat in around 8 hours.

Good luck with it though.

These chinese "clones" and one offs are all SO bad, it's insane. It insults so much of the original work I see done on here. I feel like I'm watching Torota and Honda battling in out in the 70s when I see all these clone/ one off sites claiming to have the new/ innovative/ original design.

I can't wait to see them do a really bad clone of Steve/ Jetset's designs, calling it the ratest design from chinese r/c laboratory. You have life long time of fun when you own this plane... That's when I throw my umm...
 ing computer out the window, and boycott everything made by them, including General Tso's Chicken.

I'll volunteer my SUV to run over this thing. I'm not sure a regular car would demolish it enough to demonstrate what a piece of junk this thing is.

I posted this here just want to find some serious businessmen who interest in import it from china, not your final customers. Some of you are so proud, and left some bad words here. i just want to ask: can you proud enough to refuse using the products from china??
No matter what you have said here, after i posted my thread here, some distributors of RC products contacted me for more details. that is what i want.

On the contrary with Chinese manufactured goods!! Some of it is well made,a nd certainly worth the price. We just don't like the blatant rip-off and then "discovery" by Chinese designers.

Of course you got some hits from American distributors. Those people don't have any morals either. One of you is going to end up with alot of unsold inventory.
