I recently aquired a Hanger 9 Super Cub (the red one, 100" ws) and I would like to use EP on the plane. I have done a search here and came up with lots of stuff related to Super Cubs, but nothing specific to this plane. Well, frankly I went through about 150 of the search results and ran out of energy. So, if you are aware of anything, please let me know. Comments are welcome as well.

I plan on using a Hacker C50-14XL geared motor and a Hacker ESC, both of which I have. I do need batteries, and would appreciate any input related to that. Obviously I am looking for scale type performance and medium run time.

I have read anumber of things relating to the H9 Cessna conversion. I believe that plane would come out with similar weight and performance levels. So I do have some info that will be usable

Thanks

Nice plane, wish I still had my van to get one around.
Do you have the gb already? Plugged it in to Motocalc and the C50 looks good on 8S with 3.7 gearing swinging a 17x10 prop. Roughly 1600watts at 63 amps. I used 16lbs as the weight but I'm quite sure it'll be less than that.

Yup, I have that already. It's Hacker gb/motor with the 6.1/1 gearbox. Seems to be the most common. Actually I don't ever recall seeing the 3.X/1 GB used anywhere. Regardless, I have 6.7/1 version. H9 used a 18/12 on the similar size/weight Cessna with 2 5S4P's in series.
Thanks for your effort by the way. It sounds like it will fly for sure, that's the first obstacle.

I actually got that from a B50 14XL. It's available separately from Air Craft.
I'm sure it will fly, you don't actually need that much power to fly it scale, but would be a bear in the wind without the power.

Hey there.. I have the super cub and have been flying it with a zenoah g 23 with a lighter ch ignition system on it... This is one of the best cubs I have flown and is pretty light even with the gasser and robart bungee landing gear... However I am selling the engine for an axi- 5330/18... I too have many questions about batteries....I have a few park flyers and mostly glow/gas aircraft.. So I will need some help here on the conversion... I was ready to post about this but maybe we could put our heads together on this one Gouda????

Hi Gouda,
I am currently flying a DPM cub (105") with a Hacker C5013XL, 9s3p-7500ma Tanic, APC 20x11 at 16lbs. I have also flown it with a set of floats.

Tailgragger & Scott; Thanks for coming back to this thread. Lets start some more discussion, although I will not have any time to speak of until saturday. I plan on starting actual work on my Cub this weekend so that should make for some comments. Scott, I sold a buch of my gasser stuff and just bought the DPM Clipped wing Cub. It arrived late last week. What a beauty of a plane. It's like someone just shrunk a real one and put it in this huge box. I'm still going to do the H9 Cub first. What floats do you have? I live on water, so that really is something I'd like to do as well.

I'll add some more info later.

Hi Gouda,
I purchased a set of 46" EDO round tops from Ryan at Sea Comander in Canada.
