Thats crazy!!!.. We have always known that Al-Qaida has been very resourcefull.... It looks like an Aerobird(junk) but certainly able to carry a small 200mw system aloft.. I know uncle sam has "jammers" on Humvees that emit enough RF noise to bring down any OTC rc "toy".

My biggest concern would be the perception created to the general public when they read such articles..

On my country several people have bought chinese RC models like this, they all fly really bad.

They don't need a jummer, because the control range of the 27Mhz radio system is no more then 100ft...

The Radio is a "Lai Shing" brand, the box is a copy of the Futaba 4VF made from a very bad plastic with a printed-VU (just an adesive to make it appear like the original T4VF) and the circuit board is the worst possible.

They barelly can carry their own weight, it is very dificult for one of these toys to carry a camera with video link, and they are too instable to take usable pictures or video.

A SlowStick with GWS flight pack as used by many people on AP forum can be much more dangerous...

All true. I think the point is that they (Al-Qaida) are exploring possibilities.

I would not get too alarmed. Maybe some Al-Queda terrorists just like RC and park flyers also :) . Sitting around all day every day in a dirt hut in Afghanistan without power, TV, or computers would be enough to make anyone bitter... They probably just needed a hobby. I can see them now chasing this little plane around the field like little kids, thats probably why they got caught :p

Maybe sending them some Slow Sticks might loosen them up enough to drop this whole jihad thing. :p

Please don't get too uptight!!!!
The US and its allies deploy sophisticated UAVs on a daily basis and now you get all pissed off that the enemy is flying corner store UAVs.
How very ungentlemanly of these guys be to retailate with yellow toy airplanes!
War is war and combatants of either side will use any tool they can get.
Enough said!

Well fella's I think we been caught.

We supply Bright yellow toy UAV's with a 200 meter flight and video link range to Al Qaeda through a Chinese importer. Then we use the Predator to spot the little Yellow UAV's looking for our guys. Then we put a laser guided missile with a 500 meter kill radius on the spot. Technology and tactics. Thats the ticket! ;-)

I remember some TV news in 1990, when USA derroted Iraqi on Gulf War...

Some TV channels noticed Iraqi looses because a computer virus was sent to they inside a french parallell printer and after some days the virus was spread to their Scud missiles...

People believes anything they watch on TV...

Hey Alex,

I've been thinking about you and your planes lately. Thanks for jumpping in here. It reminded me. Do any of those sleek designs of yours have dynamic stabilty in the design? I mean if your in a funny attitude and release the sticks, will any of them self right? I'm exploring designs for a glider to come back from a balloon drop from in excess of 75,000 feet. It's going to have to be inherently stable though. I'm not going to load a bunch of expensive electronics on board to stabilize a delta or some other odd design.

Thanks in advance

Dan

Now that would be a really cool project :D An FMA copilot will stabilize just about anything and they are cheap :p . I put one on a really fast and squirrly glow powered Zagi flying wing and it worked great.

Definitely a Wing Dragon. A 6-year old could fly one of these "toys"
UAV
At least the press got one thing right: It's Chinese-made :D

On second thought, maybe they're using the Wing Dragon to train themselves so they could fly a much more sophisticated UAV later on. (Shiver!!!)

At least they had the frequency flag on, indicating 27mhz!! Im sure they didnt want to shoot down other RCers

You didn't offend anyone John. We're just goofing around too. Different guys have different sense of humor. I don't think anyone posting about this was getting touchy. You can tell when they do because the whole conversation goes south real fast.
