The Southern Arizona Gliders and Electrics (SAGE) www.sageflyers.com is officially announcing the annual fall contest in Tucson, Arizona. The date has been set for Saturday, November 5, 2005 (Pilot's Meeting at 9:00am).

The contest will be a thermal duration contest with two classes (Open and RES). The overall winner, either Open or RES, will be awarded the "traveling" trophy and their name will be permanently engraved on the trophy. Additionally, plaques will be awarded to 1st place in both classes and 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall.

Morning donuts and lunch will be provided to all contestants complements of the infamous "Chef Franz" and his traveling grill.

The "official" announcement is attached below.

Please let us know as soon as possible if you are planning on attending. We would like to start getting the frequency list started and we need to know how many hamburgers / hot dogs "Chef Franz" need to buy.

See you all in November! :D

Don't worry about Odd number frequencies. We work out with the other "close" field to have all frequencies available for contests. They are really nice about it and in return we do the same thing for them. Essentially, no one flys at the other field while the contest is going on.

In fact I usually fly 46 anyway, contest or no contest. Never had a problem.

Well the initial RSVPs are coming in for the contest. Looks like we are going to have about 25-30 pilots for this years event. :D

Things are working on all 8 cylinders now and we will be ready for lots of great fun.

Saturday's forecast is for 81 degrees, zero chance of rain, severe sun shine, winds light and variable (generally from the SSW - SSE). Might be some really tough flying with these conditions.

Recommended clothing - your favorite flying shirt, shorts, good tennis shoes, wide brim hat and sunscreen protection.

Lunch is going to be hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and sodas. Someone mentioned something about brownies or cookies for desert, but we will have to see -

See everyone on Saturday! :p
