Hello, I only have one question for the Rex 3D flyers here. Which motor seems to perform best for agressive flying/3D (Think agres. flying would be 3D) Thanks for reading.

i cant attest to many combos but i am using a mega 16-15-4 on a 4s tp2100 with a 13 t pinion and have plenty of power for mild 3d and i suspect agressive <i havent gotten there yet but i have done some sloppy tic tocs and although the h/s drops a little it had plenty of power

What kind of ESC are you using? 40A or a 25-35A wiht a seperate BEC? Cuz of the 4s batt. Also what elevation are you flying at?

I'm gonna say either the 450TH on 3s or one of the Neu motors on 4s. I just got the 450TH and it's got some insane power. What do people think of the 450TH vs. the Neu motors?

sp1nmOnkey,
Count me in on wondering how much difference there is.
I've seen several insane videos of the Neu motors on 4s (even on 3s its still crazy), its really TOO much power for where I fly.
I'd like to stick with 3s cels and the 450th, but don't remember seeing any videos of this set-up to compare it to the Neumotor. Can you run this combo without a bec and the Jazz controllers they seem to use to ensure the Neu/4s setups don't blow apart in the air?
My main interest is eventually learning 3d, and to be honest, these newer set-ups for the Trex is way more power than all but the best fliers can actually use IMO. I'd hate to full-pitch bore one of those birds into the ground!

Johnny B:
I'm pretty much in the same situation you are. I've been assured that the 450th and the Neu are very close (the Neu has the edge). I've got the 450TH, and it's ballistic on the 13t pinion, but it can be tamed with an 11t pinion. It's more power than I'll ever need out of it, and it's very controlable and fun to fly. Just make sure your cells are up to it.
No, you don't need the Jazz ESC, but I have one on mine and it's just a much nicer heli because of it. It's also good to have because it'll go to four cells without a separate BEC should you change to the Neu motor.

Thanks for the info.
What 3s packs work well with the 450th?

Hi All,
I'm collecting components for a new trex xl cde. I'm currently looking at a trade between motors and whether to go 3cell or 4cell on my lipos.
What are the constraints? I'm looking at the NEU 1105/2, 1105/2.5, and 1105/3. They have KV ratings of: 5200, 4000, and 3500 respectivly.
...yes there are other motors out there but I'm trying to understand the relationship between KV and lipo cells here.
Is one KV rating better for 4 cell? Can I go with the 1105/3 with 3cell then upgrade to 4cell when my skill level increases??
My key interestes are flight longevity, then 3d power. I'm not doing 3d yet, but I hope to be flipping etc. next summer.
thanks, in advance,
Cheers,
Leslie
