Time for another new Alfa - and I just can't decide which one again...
I loved my FW-190, but I might be up for something different - so is anybody flying the LA-7?

The La-7 is a sweet flyer. Mine is very resistant to tip stalls and with a little head wind, will practically float right down for a landing. While it might not be the fastest ship in the fleet, it still scoots along and really looks great to boot. Aileron response is nice and quick and she needs very little elevator throw to do what you want it to. I did have a couple issues with the kit, itself, though. After a few flights, the firewall worked itself free of the fuselage. It was only the tacked-on cowl that kept motor and all from exiting the plane. Also, the front cap of the spinner has popped off a few times. I have tack glued it with CA to keep it where it belongs. Anyway, I don't think you'll be disappointed with the La-7. It really looks super in the air and turns heads because it is not the usual warbird seen at the field.

I've enjoyed my LA-7. But I would advise not only re-glueing the firewall, but I replaced the wood screws holding the gearbox with 3-48 nuts and bolts, available at the local hardware store. Run the bolts through from the back of the firewall, and place a washer, and TWO nuts over the screws from the front. Tightening the second nut against the first will ensure that they won't loosen, but are easier to remove than using a drop of CA to secure.

I think Jon S's description is very accurate. A nice little plane to fly.
