Oops! While trying to get the seal between the glow plug and the cylinder head tight (air was escaping from around the plug) I stripped the threads in the cylinder head. The engine is an older O.S. 40 FS Series 4 cycle. Anyone know if there is a way to fix it?

Helicoil set , you can buy them in various sizes. You drill out the hole with the right size bit, tap it and then screw in the helicoil( new threads). I have used them many times and they work well.

Thanks Robert, I'll poke around and see who carries them. I've heard of them for autos, but didn't know they had them for RC engines.

If used on a fixed wing plane would they be aerocoils?

By the time you buy the special sized drill and tap, helicoil and insertion tool, it might have been cheaper to buy a new head:

I have seen adds for places that do the head repair, just can't recall where.

Clarence Lee, engine columnist at RCM, does this repair; seems to me he was charging about $15 for the fix.
