The Diablo Valley Radio Controllers (http://www.dvrc.org) will be holding an auction this Saturday Aug 20 for the purpose of fundraising for club projects. Since we've managed to negotiate a long term lease that covers 241 acres the club members have been very busy making ourselves comfortable.

So far we have installed a 500' paved runway, a 120' long overhead shade structure, a permitted water and waste water system, and are at this moment constructing a two room bathroom near the pit area. We're also doing research on the feasibility to include a live weather station feed to our website along with web cams and an IP Phone connection (the field is 3/4 mile away from nearest live power poles) via wireless network :).

This past year we have had several donations from generous parties. It's come to the point that we no longer have a large enough secure storage area for all of the complete planes, radios, engines, tools, equipment, and misc. parts. I'd say that was a good enough reason for an auction, wouldn't you? ;)

Anyway, along with the auction there will also be one of two flyins. Our annual "Coffee and Doughnuts" funfly has been scheduled. Object of this contest is to drop a doughnut into a stationary "Coffee Cup" strategically placed on the runway. Prizes have been procured and donated (Thanks Concord HobbyTown) for the closest mark. If it's too windy for that we will hold "A Day on the Hill" slope glider fun fly on one of our great slopes.

I'll follow-up this afternoon with a few pics of some of the planes available. Thanks and I hope to see many of you at our field. There are maps on our website (http://www.dvrc.org/dvrc_directions.htm).

1. Take Hwy. 4 to Bailey Rd. South exit in Pittsburg.
2. Make a left turn on Leland Rd.
3. Turn right at John Henry Johnson Parkway. This is directly across from the fire station and next to the golf course.
4. Turn right into the driveway near the end of John Henry Johnson Parkway.
5. There are two locked gates leading to our field. The first gate may be left unlocked and will already be that way if someone has entered before you.
6. Don't forget to close and secure the second gate behind you! There are grazing cows in the surrounding area all year,
7. Follow the gravel road and veer right at the "Y" .

Edit:
Here are a few teaser pics of items that will be for sale from today. :D
