View Full Version : Question XTR Torque training, Strange behavior

When I select “throttle, rudder” and “view from top”, the plane should go from left to right when the rudder is moved. It does that but the plane also comes closer when the plane moves to the left and further when the plane goes to the right...

Which plane does not seem to make any difference, however, I only seem to have in the indoor scenery. Or at least it is more evident indoors as the plane crashes against the front and rear wall instead as to the side walls...

I did not notice this before, so could it be a new thing in the 5.02 version?

I noticed when I select view from top and use torque training "throttle, elevator" the plane slides from left to right... and I mean extreme left and right. The plane will zoom left and right faster with more throttle and slower with less throttle. I think that they mixed up the x, y axis for the throttles with this latest release. Its very bizarre

I noticed that too. Not having tried torque trining in the previous version, I have nothing to compare it to. I thought that the horizontal movement served as some sort of indicator that you were "leaving the box", and would soon hit a limit and be reset. If it's really a bug, I'd like to know.

If I get time I will shoot them a mail explaining the problem also. The more they hear about it the more likely they are to fix it.

Seems to be recognised by Reflex and fixed already. They didn't tell me the release date as they seem to work on something else to be added. Give it some 2-3 weeks please.

Great.

Thanks Kurt for following up on this.

Got reply:
It will be fixed in our next version release 5.02.1 that will be aviable for free download within the next few days.

Fredric,

I tried using the torque training scenario to practice hovering and eventhough it worked properly on the earlier version when I tried it, I found that a much the better way to practice hovering was to use the simulator in normal mode but with the time expansion factor dialed down to about 3 to start with.
Try this instead, I think it works much better than keeping the speed normal and restricting the number of functions.

Andy.

As a complete hover-dummy, I have found both techniques, and a combination of both, valuable. Even at slow speed, I found it very difficult to control the plane. At the beginning, controlling 3 axes at a time at full speed was too difficult either...

The selected plane also makes a big difference. As a matter of fact, the XFree (http://users.telenet.be/FredericGoddeeris/RC/Simulator/index.html) that I recently made for XTR proves to be very easy to hover. I have been fiddling with the parameters to have correct flight characteristics, but for some season, hovering is easy. The hovering is more easy than with actual plane. At the same time I found that hovering a real Shockflyer is easier that the one in the simulator...

Fredric,
I found the same thing with the standard Shockflyers, there are other planes that are easier to hover. You could try the one I found on RC-SIM.de which is a twice scale Shockflyer Superstar although there are no clues to it size until you look at the parameters.
