I have a simple (boxy) .19 powered 3 channel(R/E/T) high wing trainer. It has a span of 50 inches and a parallel chord of 8.25 inches(394 sq ins), weight is 2lb 10 oz.
It currently has a flattish bottow wing section and a fair bit of dihedral.
Now I have got pretty confident flying it and would like to build another wing with ailerons and possibly flaps.

The construction will not be a problem but could someone please suggest a suitable aerofoil section where I could use inset ailerons and flaps?

The section on the wing you have is probably a 12 to 15% semi-symmetrical anyway.
Copy that, and add the surfaces you want.
Or get the NACA 2412 or 2415.. these are good easy-to-build sections that aerobat well.

The section in use is more or less the same, how much dihedral would you suggest please?

Dihedral zero to 5 degrees. Zero to 3 degrees for inverted and aerobatic, 3 to 5 degrees for short time flying.
