I know these kits have been around for a while, but I just discovered them. This is my first non-ARF kit, my first convering job, and my first warbird. I have to say that for the cost of this kit, it is AWESOME. Balsa fuse, and foam wing. I added the skids on the bottom of the wing, they kinda look like profile bombs when its in the air. The plane has a himax 2812-850 outrunner, 10X5 APC prop, and a phoenix 25 controller. I won't quite go verticle with this setup, but warbirds don't need to go certicle to be awesome. I zips along really nicely and launches are quite tame. I have made landings with power untill the last second, the prop can still spin as it skids on the runway(skids would not have been nescessarry if I flew mostly on grass) Anyhow, Ace has lots of warbirds, and from a distance they look pretty scale, not perfect by any means, but for the price and the ease of building you can't go wrong in my book.

I have built two of these planes in the past and they were great! I did get one to be under 15oz once and it would just float. But with a mega 16/15/5 and 8x4 prop on 8 cells it would go vertical for the first 30 seconds.

I built one with a Mega 16/15/7 and a 9x6E. Flew great. That was pre lipos too.

Hey J, looks great! Where did you get that bird? I have been looking for an online source for those without to much luck! I want the AT-6.

I have never bought from here (http://www.kingrc.com/planes.htm#ace), but they at least list them. Don't know why the AT-6 is more. I hope this helps.

Mike, another place is Radical RC (http://radicalrc.secure-mall.com/shop/?keywords=ace+simple&match_criteria=all&search=Search&shop=1&cart=574963) in Dayton. Maybe you can find a closer place on acehobby.com's distributer list.
I have liked the simple series Corsair and P-51 since the mid-80's, but have never built one. Maybe someday. :D
