I'm building a glow-powered version of the Diamona at twice the original size, and have a question regarding the engine placement (see attachment).

The Diamona is a rear-motor wing with the motor mounted on the underside of a boom mounted on the top of the fuse. Therefore, the thrust line is high up on the plane.

I'm planning on mounting the glow engine on the front. In this configuration, where should the thrust line be?? My gut feeling is to place it half-way between the upper wing and lower wing.

Any experts out there with a suggestion??

Your gut feeling sounds pretty good. Any particular reason you're converting it to a tractor?

With the prop in front, the propwash over the canard may keep the canard from stalling. Power-on deep stalls are no fun. Other than that, looks like a fantastic model. Good luck!

First, there's no canard. A simple swept-back front wing. All control is via elevons in the upper rear wing. I want propwash to enhance the elevons.

Plus, another reason for "tractor" is that as an electric, 75% of the weight is forward of the CG in the form of a battery pack. The OS 40 LA will replace that weight.

Thanks for the response.
