thanks for putting the photos on here, now if anyone knows what sort of boat it is as i'm trying to do her up and want it to look like it should, it has a fibreglass hull and wooden top, it looks like it was a kit built boat, any information greatly appreciated thanks.

It really looks like somone took a Catalina
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3978176&postcount=7
And tried to make a passenger ferry on the hull.
The half decks at the stern seem out of place.
The Catalina has a very similar superstructure configuration, as do the
PT-20 passenger ferrys. However Both boats have only the single deck below the "flying bridge" and little or not step on the main deck.
The later PT-50s were a common site on Sidney harbour, Australia.

thanks for that info but we have seen the same boat in a issue of marine modelling international magazine july 2004 on page 69, but it doesn't say what it is and the picture doesn't really show the boat properly. when we bought it (in South Australia) there was a brass plate on the back of the boat that says 'Wolif, Kangaroo Island' but after looking that up we think that it might be just a made up name.

There was a boat somewhat similar to the one in the picture that used to be moored near Joel's Wharf, in Middle Harbour Sydney (Umi, note spelling LOL) The lines back to the aft end of the flybridge are almost identical, but I remember the stern was different.
the guy I spoke to said it was an old pilot boat that someone was converting to a pleasure craft.

Prop'er does this hull look familiar???? The model you posted looks very close to the same hull. If you had the plans for the old Berkely crash boat all you would need is a different cabin structure. Those pictures Umi posted looks a bit like 80' Elco conversions.

It looks a lot like it. What I do like is as you had mentioned, building different decks and superstructures for the same hull. A simple and quite enjoyable pass time.
