to anyone who can help,

i want to buy my dad an r/c boat for his bday. he's not a collector or anyting, but i want to get him a decent one but i cant drop 100 bucks or anything. what do you guys recommend for specs or brands? im not sure what voltage batteries are needed or anything. i just want to get one that can go more than a couple of miles per hour and isnt an expensive piece of crap from a toy store. i would appreciate any help.

thanks

I have the Turbo Vee , it's made by Hobbico the same that make the AquaCraft Hammer EP. It's a fun boat out of box, gets on plane very fast.
It's not a race boat! just a good fun sport boat. Very well made and looks good. Not every one want's to race.
On sale for $79.99.

yeah, i am looking for just a fun toy one. not a racing boat. i just dont want it to suck and barely driveable or where you have to be only a few feet away to use the remote.

graupner do some good ones www.graupner.com

or there is the Ripmax Interceptor RTR. They dont half shift, and yes my najade is quick, an interceptor with a different motor will actually leave my najade behind.

Get a Zig Zag racer or a Reef Racer. They are small, under a hundred bucks, and rip! You will be very impressed!

Ahoy;
both of the above ideas are good. and which ever you go for i would add, get a couple of batterys and a charger that will do it off a car. this way if he is having a good time and the battery goes dead, he would have to go home. and thats a drag. i know.
