Question for y'all...................

Fired up my buddy's <new-to-him/used> T-Maxx today and noticed something
weird (at least I think). The transmission doesn't engage until the RPM's
get up to a certain level. The pinion and spur are moving just fine, but
until you reach 1/4 throttle the tranny doesn't engage. Does the T-Maxx
tranny have an internal clutch? Runs fine otherwise. Has a WASP .18 in it
and seems to run pretty good.

Really weird to see the spur spinning and the wheels NOT moving! Used to
the Savage..............spur moving = wheels moving.

Yes , the forward and reverse output gears both have clutches. They will not
engage until a certain rpm is reached. If his idle is real low...raising it
a bit will help engage quicker...(too high of an idle and the truck will
stay engaged) At neutral idle or when releasing throttle the spur gear
should freewheel (hence clutches are disengaged).. =)
