I am thinking about buying a Dumas Bluefish submarine kit. But I have seen almost nothing about this kit as far as reviews etc. Has anyone built one or seen one in action? What are your opinions?
Thanks!

Do a search on google.com with Dumas bluefish dean. The guy dean naiib, or something like that has a great website with full construction build ups from start to finish of most the popular subs including the bluefish. If I can find the site Ill post it.

www.marinerc.com The Bluefish and now they have a Akula are both dynamic divers which means they dont have a ballast tank and require you to go fast and drive it under the water. Good thing is that it will "usually" pop back up to the surface because its got positive bouyancy. To make it dive easier and at a slower pace means adding weight which also means increasing the chances of not coming back up. Check out the site. Its one of the best.

JIMJAM,
How, in your opinion, was the Robbe U-47 to build? I have given up on the Heli's and am getting back to my love of R/C scale boats/ships. After I finish the Dumas 41' Coast Guard boat presently on the building board I want to start a sub. Fortunately for me there is a sub club 40 mins from here in DC.
Thanks for the pointer to that awesome marine page!
Cheers,

I considered the Robbe to be difficult to build but when done is a really nice looking boat. The instructions are translated from German and can be confusing. Theres just alot of cutting ,trimming and gluing. The end result is very sweet but the subs performance isnt all that great. Being a dynamic diver, it takes alot of speed to overcome its bouyancy. Doesnt look realistic running at full speed underwater and is more like flying a plane. My last one as seen in this pic was totally modded out. I used a 3-1 gr unit on the motors, a custom conning tower, brass props, brass netcutter and all the latest electronic gadgets. I ended up adding alot of weight to bring it down to decks awash to lower its submerged speed. This can be risky cause at neatral boyancy without ballast tanks, you are relying just on prop power to get back up. Loose your motors or hitting the bottom, and you might stay there. I aslo have some large high res pics of my Robbe if interested.

TWmaster, would be interested in your thoughts on the Dumas 41 footer. You can email me if you prefer as it is off topic for this board. Thanks for any thoughts you can share, Russ Gordon

After reading the reviews of the bluefish and the robbe kits I am thinking the USS Albacore from www.rcboats.com.
Jim, why did you sell the Akula?

Ive got enough toys as it is and needed some funds to get another even more expensive one.Im considering the OTW VIIC German u-boat. The kit alone cost more than my first car!! By the way, Ive also got a Robbe U-47 modded out, ready to run I can get if anyones interested.

JimJam,
Are you going directly to England for the OTW kit? Are you going to use OTW's wtc? I e-mailed you about this awhile ago because I like the OTW kit. The problem is the $2200 to get it!
I am going to try to somehow, someway acquire this kit for myself. It is the best on the market.
Frank:)
Revell of Germany sells a Type VII 1/125 scale kit for around $20.
Model Expo has them on sale.

MarineRC has been off for a while now, what do you think you'd get from a thread that's 6 years old???
