Hey guys, I am redoing my flied box, and was wondering if you can help. I would like to have one switch that can turn on and off all the power. It has lights and more switchs please study the diagram, please tell me if its correct. When you fly a switch to on the light should go on saying that there is power for the tool( glow starter, starter, pump)
here it is

If you turn on that left-hand switch, you'l get a nice fireworks display and lots of smoke.

how come

That would be a direct short circuit through the switch, just like laying a screwdriver across the battery terminals.
Here you go, and don't forget the fuse:

thanks so much mike, i was just wondering what the fuse is for. Where can i get it. thanks

be sure to use resistors in serie with the LED otherwise they will have a very short lifespan. Look in the datasheet and calculate the required resistor.

Notice that Uitgeslapen's diagram is essentially the same as mine? That should give you some confidence.
The fuse is to prevent the fireworks I mentioned earlier, just in case you make a mistake or something goes wrong. It should be rated a little higher than the highest number of amps you expect to need, which I guess will probably be from your starter.
Radio Shack would be a good place to look for what you need. They also have LEDs with built-in resistors for use with 12 volts. The part numbers are 276-270 for red and 276-271 for green.

You could also use ordinary 12 volt light bulbs, which might be easier to see out in the sunlight.

- No need to use a switch for your starter
- Don't use banana plugs for your starter, too much resistance for these currents, use flat, screw on tabs.

And dont connect the glowplug output direct to your glowplug or it will not last very long !!

- No need to use a switch for your starter ...Normal switch would not be able to handle the current anyway. Installing a switch does not add extra functionality, only more resistance.

I have a current regulator, it came from my flight pannel, i can increase and drease the voltage.

can i hook up 2 batterys. I have a hanger 9 12v and a tractor battery, i bought from lowes, i think it is 12v. Can i wire them together.

nope because the smaller one will disharge quiker and cause damage to itself.

That's not true. If two batteries of the same type but different sizes are wired in parallel, they'll have equal voltage at all times and will discharge together. The bigger battery will provide more of the total current, but neither will go dead before the other.
What you wrote would be true if they were wired in series though.

what does wire in sires and wire in parrelle mean.Like in the diagram can both positives from each battery go to one place and both negatives from one battery go to the other place.

As in happens, I have drawings already prepared for this! :D
Here's a series circuit:

and here's a parallel circuit:

chopperman, i don't mean to be rude or a jerk, but if you don't know the difference between parallel and series wiring, you really should have somone who knows this stuff make the box for you (like miami mike or someone). messing with a battery with high output current like a tractor battery with wrong wiring will most likely blow off a finger or two (or worse). for your own safety, have someone help you with this project or at least put a fuse on there like Mike suggested.
post a note or two on this forum in a few months to let us know you're still alive.

yeah, sorry I got a bit parental there. It's just that I've seen stuff glow, burn, melt, explode from a short. Good luck.

OK im back, everything went good, now i want to add a switch(lol sorry for all the switches) so i can make the pump fill and defill the tank. The switch that i have isnt a toggle switch its a push switch. it has 2 rows of 3 prongs on it. My image uploader isnt working right now. Which uploader do you guys use.

Alright this picture is the back of the switches, the smaller circles are the leds

I dont know how to wire it, so the switch over it, turns on and off the pump, and the switch under it(the one with the 2 layers of 3 prongs) controls weather it fills the tank, or emptys it.

Yep.. be very careful when working with large amp hour batteries... (tractor battery) I blew the top off a car battery once.. :( It didn't have enough power to start the car but when I accidently shorted the positve post to ground  ... my ears rang for a week

alright guys im back, and still alive. Here are some pictures, its not done yet cuz i have to still plastic weld more aroung the board.
I mounted it on a piece of clear plastic.
you can see on the bottom right, how it will look all around.
tell me what you think
