What does every one do about pylon helpers at race meetings?

Over here, we grab kids, wives and club members who are not racing and try to get them to sit on the course all day. This is not very satisfactory as they are not particularly interested in helping out and mistakes are legion.

In England, we used to split the entry into two with one half of the entry flying while the other half manned the course. Not ideal as it takes longer to run a meeting because of turn around time between the halves and because the weather might change during the day favouring one half more than the other.

Are there any other options that might work?

In the past we've used a boy scout troop to help. Or a school team looking for ways to make money for there uniforms or activites

It's tough to get help, no doubt.

We have our "shack" where the admin/announcer is do pylon 2, a pilot to do 3 because of the close proximity to the start line and a person on one who stay there the whole time.

Just like a lean , mean corperate scene

our workers come from the club members. They are members who dont fly pylon. They are paid 25 dollars a day.Usally in gift certificates. Then when we fly one of their area of interarest. the pylon guys fill the worker positions.. makes for a happy group. We have some members who just sport fly and can care less about competition. They fill most of the worker spots supporting the club in this manner.. with regards scott
