Ok guys, I've posted about my Great Planes Corsair in the successful power systems thread but after swapping out my burnded out Axi for a Mega 22/30/3E, it's been given a whole new performance level.
The Axi (2820/12) flew it great and had no complaints except for the magnets coming loose and the stator spinning and winding up the motor leads. After not being able to keep the stator from rotating I put in my Mega and gave it a try and boy was it different. Judging by the watt meter it didn't look like anything thrilling, 350+ watts at 42 amps static. However, in flight it picked up a lot of speed and now there is a sort of whistles when I put her in a dive. I'm still using an APC 9x7.5E but am running a Thunder Power 3S2P 4200mah gen 2 pack instead of the Maxamps 4S2P 3300mah pack.

Hi and congrats !
Do you mean the 22/20/3E ? Not sure they have a 30/3e I could be wrong.
anyway..
I know what ya mean ,I put one one the nose of a global arf Texan 44"
tanic 3s2p and wow ! ,,,, the thing is a little tank ,,,no lightening up for electric on this one, but 527 watts gets the job done ;) using a Jeti 70 and 10x5
just got rid of some vibration on the motor mount and dropped to a 9x6
thats about 430 watts to keep things @ max spec... ,,,have some Aeronaut Carbon props that'll be in tomorrow.... can't wait .
Really like the MEGAS I have a few and they're all great !
continued good luck ~

You're right, it is a 22/20/3E, don't know why I thought it was a 30. I need to check my setup again, I can't remember how much watts I was getting with the 9x7.5E.
This setup would be great in GP's combat P-51 with a 39.5 wingspan.

with all the motor #'s out there it's easy to miss a digit ,,,,
would be nice on the gp 51
greats thing about this motor :
1) on 5/6s it does very nice in a 90mm EDF unit
2) gear it on 5s and fly .40 size :D
3) and of course DD it's nice .
cheers ~

Roger that. I powered my Rascal .40 with a 22/20/3 with 3.7 planetary and it was great. Too bad the Maxon gb's are so expensive. BTW, got a couple of 5S2P's from Austin for this setup and my Axis for my larger conversions.

Never tried a mega motor. Do you think they perform better than the AXI's?
I just finished buying 3 AXI's on that Motor sale that HL had.

My 2820/12 flew the Corsair well and I had no complaints until the motor literally started falling apart. The Mega has a noticeable performance gain and I couldn't be happier.
I ordered another 2820/12, 2826/12, 4120/14 and 4130/16 from HL's big sale. Couldn't pass up a deal like that.

Glad to say my Corsair is still up and going. The other week I clocked it with the Bushnell radar from Radio Shack at 105mph. Of course that was with a nice big dive, level full throttle pass is about 80mph.
Just got a micro cam so will see how well the video comes out. Right now only limited to 1 minute as I only have an 8mb card in my video cam.

Yesterday bested my top speed. With a big dive going down wind it hit 116 mph and going upwind it got up to 81 mph. Average is 98.5 mph, not very scale at all but it flies great.
Covering starting to wear and now that I'm flying the H9 Miss America, I'm thinking about recovering the Corsair.
