I'm looking at getting either the Alfa Corsair or Mustang (either one is $100), or the GWS Corsair.

Which one should I get, and aside from looks, how do the 2 compare in flight and durability?

Also, what are the best prices you've seen on both the Alfa's and the GWS?

I'm not looking to slam either brand, I like them both and will eventually have a fleet with both products, this will be my first warbird, I've been flying a Cap232

I have the Alfa Corsair and really enjoy it whole heartedly. A good friend of mine flies the GWS an it too flies rather well. The differences are the price, obviously and the fact that the Alfa is closer to flying out of the box, drop in your gear and go. The GWS can be turned into a great flying gem but requires greater attention during assembly and selection of motor.
My preference is to fly ASAP as opposed to building. More recently, I have also added to the fact that the Alfas can be built rather sturdy and can with stand a crash better than of my GWS planes. More specifically, I nosed in my Alfa Fw 190 from 40+ plus feet and did relatively little damage to the overall airframe. Granted, I totally shattered the spinner and my MP jet outrunner but I was able to repair the plane without almost no noteable damage. Invest in lining accesable areas of the fuse with carbon fiber sheet and foam safe CA. Parts like the cowling and spinner are available from Hobby Lobby for about $8 each. Good luck and hope this helps!

That does help, thanks for the post.
Do outrunner motors have a mount that comes with the kit or do you have to custom mount any of the motors?

If you go with the recommended motor, the MP Jets, they do come with motor mounts. The Alfas even have the holes on the wooden firewalls prestarted the help locate the position of the motor mount, can't get any easier.

Strengthen the holes with a little CA, and epoxy the inside of the firewall first though.

That's where the motors likes to seperate.
