Hey all. I bought the Reflex software at a hobby shop. It was preowned and returned so I got it at a good price but it didn't come with anything to hook up my TX. Where can I get this?

You need 2 things in addition to the CD the software came on -

1 - the USB interface - small gadget that plugs into the USB port
2 - a cable that connects from the USB interface to your tx

The #1 is part of the copy protection so if it was not included you should take it back as the software will not run without it.

I find it had to accept that a genuine retail hobby shop would sell this as:

1) The should already be awear of how XTR works with its copy protection and would of checked the contents of box when the previous owner traded it in

2) Unless the model shop has never heard of XTR (which I doubt) they would know that supplying just the software would cause them embarrasment and damage their reputation for palming off something that won't work on their customers.

I'm sorry, but I read these sort of posts as "I've just bought a copy of XTR off a guy on e-bay and I can't get it to work"...

av8ersteve, if your story is indeed the turth then my apologies 1) for the insinuations, and 2) for being taken in buy a devious retailer

Malc,

Actually I think it's probably very likely. Most hobby shop employees don't know the first thing about computers or the software that they are selling as that is not what they are there for. In my experience the software just sits on the shelf and the people there know nothing about it.

Come to think of it I don't know any local store that would take back an open box software or music/video CD/DVD. Hobby stores should do the same to prevent situation like this.

I could understand it if it was a huge departmental store.. but in most small model shops it will normally be the manager who would be agreeing the S/H purchase in the first place, and I would of thought that any manager of a LMS would know whats required to make the Reflex software work.

maybe Av8steve will update us on how he gets on with getting his money back

Well I can tell you that the people in my small hobby shop don't know the first thing about software. These are just kids hired off the streets that generally know nothing about any of the hobbies and the manager of the store is more conserned about his remote control cars to care about planes or plane simulators. The other day I asked the manager for a servo extender and he opened up the glass case and told me to find it myself. I seriously doubt this guy will know to look for the connectors if he gets a return.
