Apparently the P-51B is the next Alfa warbird coming to us, but that got me thinking about what plane I would really like to see (have in my squadron, actually ;) ) I figured I would throw both EDF and prop planes on the list - but by all means, please add your own - I know there are a lot of ideas out there...but I think I already know what the consensus is going to be ;)

Flying Styro is going to give us a late model BF109 shortly.

Like to see Alfa do that or a Spifire Mark IX. Typhoon or Hurricane.

Or, what I want. what I really want. Is a Grumman
F9F Panther or Couger EDF. If they can figure out the ducting. this would be a biggie seller for sure... ;)

I second the Hurricane, but that ME-262 would be nice.
I wish they would also go with warbirds that are not typically seen in RC, like Italian warbirds, some of the japanese fighters(raiden or Jack), French warbirds too.

I voted for the 262 because…. Well gosh who wouldn’t want at least the availability of it in an ARF form with Alfa’s trademark quality.

That said, I know in all honesty even if they did produce it I might not be able to afford it. Gosh, I’m IN LOVE with the FS ME-110 but just can’t pull the trigger because of that cost. Now if you think a twin is expensive, can you imagine what a twin EDF would cost???!!

Going back to being practical perhaps a Hurricane is long overdue? The typhoon is also a great model and heck a P-40 that isn’t as fragile as the FS kit would be great.

Isn’t it nice to dream!

And what would be easier to model. Two motor nacelles, and the airframe, easy, one would think. The P51 as all have noted, has been done to death..

It just seems like they repaint and then everyone gets excited. Take a can of paint and do it yourself. As for the difference in the B model, sell a little kit to convert.

Just curious to know if Alfa is going to distribute their "B" version to the States. I know a while back they had a yak-3 on there web page, along with the LA-7. Then Styro came out with the Yak-3 1st, and never did see the alfa version again in their web page.

Interesting point. I got several Alfas and on the inside was an insert with new planes, and it showed the yak. Never saw it though.

I'm working on a conversion kit for Alfa FW's, if you have a broken Alfa you would like to part with send me a PM with a description of damage. Most needed is a nose-damaged fuse, or good fuse without wings. Wings are optional but only if they're in good shape.

The sooner I get another example, the sooner we'll have a long-nose option!

What are you saying? Do you think Alfa is going to start kitting the TA-152 because you're cutting and pasting one together?

What are you saying? Do you think Alfa is going to start kitting the TA-152 because you're cutting and pasting one together?

No. I'm looking into making conversion kits, turning A's into D's. You're on your own for Ta's, might as well build a new model rather than throw away 75% of a good plane.

You all guys gotta check the NEW SECTION at: http://www.alfamodel.cz/

Select ENGLISH ---> R&D ---> and check the new videos of the prototypes they are testing/developing, then no more discussion on what they SHOULD do, instead discuss about what they ARE DOING :-)

I have been told that the Vought prototype has lesser chances to see the shelves, due to their doubts about the potential request by the market...what a shame !

This is my first post, so HI TO EVERYONE !

We need a good flying P-40C!! With Alpha quality and flying characteristics, it would be a big seller for sure.

Other kits I’d like to see (and would buy) would include an F4F Wildcat, TBF Avenger, F9F Panther, SBD Dauntless, and Douglas TBD Devastator. For twins, it would be nice to see a Martin B-26 Marauder or perhaps a Martin B-10.

Just my wish list :)

Has anyone flew the Alpha P-51B yet? How does it compare to Alpha's original P-51? Are there simply cosmetic changes (different paint scheme and canopy)? I flew the original a while back when I was still a newbie, and it died a glorious death...however I do remember it being an excellent flyer. I was thinking of getting another one now that I have the skills to actually do it justice...not sure which one to get though.

I'd love to see a P-38 since it seems that there are fewer of them on the market and an ARF is more my speed. A B-25 or B-24 would be sweet as well.

I have to agree they can be repaired. I crashed my first Mustang alot. Once I crushed the nose up to the cockpit doing a reenactment of a lawn. I was able to rebuild it, and it still flys great. I painted it after the repair work. It doesn't look as nice, but I'm ok with that.

Nov 09, 2005, 02:03 PM
You guys are better crashers than me.

When mine went in (not very hard) they turned resembled a foam cooler after being hit by a Mack truck. Compared to similar mishaps with traditionally built planes, the Alfas sustain much more damage, and in my case they were not repairable.

I agree they are pricey for foam. But I also have to say they look nice right out of the box.

There is no denying they are more fragile than something like a GWS - BUT they REALLY look the part. If you want a nice stand off scale warbird, they really are not unreasonable.

This is coming from a guy that plowed his first Alpha P47 into the ground on the maiden with a servo issue. No it was not repairable, but then I should have checked everything again before the flight.

THAT Razorback looks GREAT! I will pick one up. Is that going to use the blue mp jet like the other (I happen to have a spare :D ?
