View Full Version : How old is too old???

The OTHER Kevin in San Diego

Used to fly a Schluter JR50 back in the early/mid 90's and shelved it
when parts availability made it too risky to fly. Somewhere in that
couple years I scored 4 gallons of CoolPower 30% heli fuel. The box
has never been opened and it's been stored in my garage for all this
time, unmolested and collecting dust.

I decided a couple weeks ago to get back into it and bought a Raptor50
and an OS.50 to power it. I *just* finished building the thing and
will be doing the radio install/setup tomorrow when I get home from
work.

Think this old fuel is any good? I know nitro absorbs water, but like
I said, the tape on the box has never been cut so it stands to reason
the fuel inside is still ok if the jugs haven't been compromised..

Comments??

Try it is all i can say, If it works ok, Fine, If not, use it for weed
killer. Or are weeds not allowed in San Diego ? I was once arrested, at gun
point, placed in to handcuffs, & put in jail in San Diego. I was doing 85mph
on the interstate just outside San Diego. Very scary, the cop said "Huh,
your cops in UK dont even carry guns", as if it was sissy not to. Scary. I
was fined $25. This was in 1970. Yes really an old dog. Ray

What up dog?
lol...anyways..even back in the 70's I would have looked right at the cop
and asked when the last time a city in california could trace 1000 years of
sword wielding crusasders in its history. ROFL.

I popped open a jug this afternoon and gave it a whiff. Burned my
nose pretty good so I tink it's ok.. Won't have the Rappy airworthy
until Sunday at the earliest. Got the mechanicals sorted out but have
some studying to do on the radio setup. Can't do either until Sunday
'cuz I'll be terrorizing So. Cal in an R22 tomorrow..

I hope weeds are ok in San Diego. The back hills are covered in 'em.

85 IN town is pretty normal around here. If you're headed South on
the 5 at anything less than 85, you're gonna get run over..
