View Full Version : AVA - need correct CG and Towhook locations

If anyone has an AVA Sailplane please tell me how far back you have the tow hook set from the leading edge of the wing, and also where your have your CG located from the leading edge of the wing. I don't want to lannch until I know it is safe! Please email me at carrin@email.com THANKS!!!

I do not know where the CG should be but the tow hook should be about 1/4" in front of your CG for a conservative starting point.

Try it about 4 inches aft of the leading edge for both. The instructions can be found on line.

Thanks...I flew it today for the first time with the CG 4" aft of the leading edge for both. I did a few launches to fine tune it...discovering I needed two clicks of down elevator during launch to keep it on the tow line...then I launched and went for thermal duration. I think I could have kept it up all day! She thermals SUPER! Sorry about this, but the other high tech sailplanes would get in the same thermals, but would eventually come down and land and launch again, while the AVA just stayed up there! What a plane!
