I have a .40/.60 sized Balsa Nova in the box that I am thinking about building as an electric.
Any ideas or know of a proven system for this airplane?

I have one also,I think the AXI 2820/10 or /12 would work real well...build it light and use a 3 cell lipoly pack.I would build mine but I still have 3 unfinished projects...maybe next year.

Hey Guys,
I dont know anything about that kit, but if it is a .60 size you may want to go with a 41 series AXI motor.. I have a 2826-12 that flew a 12 lb model, but it was basically a motor glider type deal... If your looking at a 6LB AUW you would be fine with the 28 series AXI motor...
Is the Balso Nova a 3D type ship or is it a sport flyer?

It's more sport. It was designed before 3D was common. It does knife edge very well and can do 3D type aerobatics I'm told with enlarged control surfaces.
What battery pack could be used with the differnt AXI motors suggested?
Thanks and keep the ideas flowing. This kit has been in my closet for a few years and it's begging to fly.

what is its AUW suppoed to be with a Glow motor?... 12-13 LBS is about max you can fly with a stock 11.1 volt pack.. The 2826-12 swinging a 14x10 on 3 cells WILL fly that 12 lbs weight, but it is at the edge!... If the BN is around 5-6.5lbs, the AXI will fly it fine.. My biggest 11.1 volt pack is 5000Mah and it weighs 11oz.. The AXI motor only weighs 6 oz...
What is the wings span and area on the BN?

I think you would be pretty happy with the smaller one and the AXI 2826-12 on a large 3S pack. If you decide you want the big one, you will have to power it with a high volt system of 18 volts or more and go with the AXI 41xx or the 53xx motors to get the thrust that you want... The Small one with that AXI motor should be a nice "Sport Flyer" on 11.1 volts... It wont do 3D, but it will still have good performance.. Once you start getting into the 10 lb sport flyer planes you have to make a big jump in motor and batteries and ESC's...

Speleo:
Go with the AXI 412018, 5s 4400 pack lipo or 18 cell nimh 3300, a CC PHX60 and a 15-10 APC eprop. The power level is about 800 watts. For a 6 lb plane this is serious 3d whoopie factor.
This setup works great in my Ucando 46. Very, very, sweeeet. ;) :D

Thanks for the info. I've pretty much zeroed in on AXI 4120 motors for the final setup for my Senior Telemaster and the Balsa Nova if I ever get to it.
Thanks for the info! Scott

Scott,
I think a Hacker C50 14XL+6.7:1, TP 10S 4P 5300's, 90 amp ESC, 22x10 APC-E would do the job nicely. AUW would be appx 11.0 to 11.5 lbs. Should be AWESOME :).
