Has anybody built a put put boat and made it RC? I have been thinking about trying this and just wondered if it had ever been done.

I guess that I should explain what a put put boat is for those who don't know...

Okay! My thought is to build a fairly large putt putt boat using sterno fuel for powering the boiler. Then make the stearing RC. What do you folks think?

I think people have thought about it,

it is just a matter of finishing current projects, and bringing something like this one to the forefront. ;)

You could be the first member to get one started.

People have been tinkering with these boats all over, I know of a club in Germany hat runs a fleet of these boats RC-controlled.
Due to the "enormous" thrust of this system, calm conditions are a must, or you won't be able to get back to shore....

But they sure are fun!

Titanic 14" Long You could put RC on this.
Ref: b9105049 (http://www.jesters.com/acatalog/Tin_toy_boats.html)

Modern repro of a classic toy. Tin Plate steam powered Titanic pop pop ship. Working steam powered ship. Over 14 inch long' Comes in a Nice Picture box with full instructions, candles and fill tubes. Powered by a mini steam engine. water in the boiler turns to steam and squirts out of the back. This causes a vacuum and the boiler fills again and the process is repeated. Made in India the construction of these boats is a little rough but they do really work well.

POP POP boats now appear as part of the Schools National curriculum for GCSE Science
