View Full Version : Acme Conquistador??

Howdy all,

Anybody ever run or seen an Acme Conquistador Monster Truck? I believe they
are manufactured by Smartech and built on the same platform as the Condor
(buggy). They are a UK brand truck. Despite my advice, my buddy bought one
on E-Bay last night for $226. I told him to stick with the big five: HPI,
OFNA, Traxxas, Duratrax and Associated and avoid no-name brands and
especially imports. A quick google search reveals no North American parts
suppliers and Acme/Smartech doesn't even have a website that I could find.

This is gunna be a mess I think. I told him for the same price he could
have got a Tower-Hobbies ST-15 RTR, parts of which are readily available.
Then again, what do I know right?

Had the dubious honour of tuning and setting up a Smartech 1/10 nitro buggy
thing for my boss. It was junk. VERY slow, like, walking pace, and then it
blew a diff at that speed. And melted its clutch. Terribley made, very
poor. I was most unimpressed.

Not a patch on my Sav ;)

Thanks for the response Dan, that's exactly what I thought. The first thing
to go on the cheapies is always the clutch or diffs. I have a Savage myself
and LOVE it. I highly encouraged him to get one, or at least an MT2 stadium
truck (HPI brand loyalty). I also suggested the OFNA LX Comp 1/8 Buggy,
Traxxas T-Maxx or S-Maxx, Duratrax Warhead or Associated RC10. For the
cheapest option I sent him a link to the Tower Hobbies ST-15.

The question now is, do I try and help him with this thing, knowing it's
gunna eat itself alive, or do I just stomp it with my Sav when we're bashing
to save him some misery?

I certainly wouldn't recommend spending any money on it :) When it breaks,
chuck it back on Ebay and get a Savage :D

parts go to http://www.rchighspeed.com

My boss asked my to break in a tune an Acme Condor for his kids...

Never again will I buy an Acme product. Of course, I might have just had a
duffer and I'm not saying they're all bad. Google does that for me :-)

Seriously though, welcome to the hobby, good luck with it. Unless of course
this is just spam.

Here are the main issues my bud has with his:

1. Engine overheating unless set sloppy rich (decent performance at proper
needle setting but overheated quickly).
2. Lack of power in grass, quickly overheated. Ran fine on dirt, asphault
and gravel.
3. Diff gears made of pot metal and stripped out after 1/2 gallon or so.

If the engine didn't overheat and the diff gears held their own it would
have been a pretty decent little 1/10 ST for the price. Good luck with
yours! Maybe they've updated them since then (this was last spring).

I just ran the 10 tank of fuel thru mine. No problems :) I changed the miffler to a stock one fron a Revo 2.5 and what a change. It has GOBS more bottom end power. It fits without changing a thing. That is it is a bolt on .

I have run about 10 tanks of fuel in mine and no problem. I put a shock
muffler from a Revo 2.5 on mine and what a change. It has GOBS more
bottom end power. The muffler is a bolt on and is worth the $2.00 I
paid for it on Ebay. I race my friend Revo and walked away from him. He
was not very happy sence he has over $1000.00 in his Revo and I have
only $139.00 + $2.00 for the muffler. I plan to put in a two speed
trans soon.

Sounds like they've stepped it up a bit huh? Glad to hear you're having
better luck with yours than my bud did with his!

It does. If you beleive it. I don't. No way it would lunch on a Revo, not
in a million years. They have a .18 Team Infinity paperweight, sorry,
engine...

I mean, look at them for gods sake -
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ACME-CONQUISTADOR-NITRO-PETROL-REMOTE-CONTROL-RC-TRUCK_W0QQitemZ200018092095

They may well be a fine starter truck, hell, they may even be quite good,
but they're not even in the same league as a modded Revo, christ they're not
even in the same galaxy!

Sorry you don't beleive it. Maybe his Revo is not as fast as some but
my truck walked away from his. It will be quicked when I get the 2
speed trams installed.
