Pike-ers! Where do you have your RX mounted? It seems there's enough room for it up front, forward of the servo tray, but it's pretty tight. I've heard rumors that placing the RX aft of the servo tray is problematic due to RF issues.

What's the real buzz?

Thanks - Jim

My receiver is forward of the servo tray. The antenna exits the fuselage immediately and is streched back towards the top of the vertical fin. No glitches. It's a Hitec super slim.

Do a good antenna down range test, no matter what.

Jim;

Jo Grini has an extensive page related to the Pike Superior, and posts here frequently as well, hopefully he won't mind me posting the following link:

http://www.workflow.as/jogrini/pike/index.htm

The "Technical" link will take you to his recommended throws, and also on that page is a link to a picture of his servo/receiver install. It depicts the receiver ahead of the servos. There is also a link to helpful hints/solutions for receiver antenna installs.

From my research so far, it seems like most people mount the RX forward, then exit the antenna wire aft of the wing. Apparently, exiting forward of the wing makes interference even worse.

Jim,

"I've heard rumors that placing the RX aft of the servo tray is problematic due to RF issues" - iīve heard and read the opposite: Itīs better to but the RX aft the servotray. Thatīs what i have done. In front of the servotray you need enough space to get the battery in.
Iīve soldered the antenna to the steel-pushrods, which are also connected by a wire. At the end of the rudder pushrod i have add the antenna extension for the crosstail as described on the samba pages. until now itīs working perfect.

I've had my R700 Rx installed aft of the servos in a Miraj for 2 years with no problems (other than changing the Xtal!). Servo tray and push rods are CF. Atenna is external.
