There is a club near my house, I watched some pylon racing last weekend. Someone said that they were Q40 class, the planes look like quickie 500's. Is there a difference? I may be interested in getting one but not sure if those are the correct planes.

This is what they look like http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBGB1&P=ML

I checked the AMA site and there is a Q40 and a Quickie 500

Same planes different engine displacement??

Thanks

Different model types, same engine displacement. Both 0.40 cu in engines. Motors may be restricted by manufacturer depending on where you race.

The Q500 is the square wing model. The 500 refers to the wing area, 50" x 10".

The Q40 is much nicer to look at.

hekili, If you are interested in pylon and want to purchase a top quality model it is worth taking a look at this web site www.bigbruceracing.com they are world class models that almost always finish at the pointy end.
