If I want a 1:96 Ticonderoga kit, seems the choices are Scale Shipyard or Sirmar... both are f/g hulls, plans, and fittings, you build the superstructure.
- Anyone have experience with either of these? How are the fittings?
- Any other choices out there?

Pat -
My USCGC Tamaroa is a Scale Shipyard f/g hull and some of their resin fittings. SSY plans are good to work from. Some of the SSY resin fittings need some work to make them more accurate. The SSY gun turrets are a solid pour of resin, and should be hollowed out from the bottom to make them lighter. I've found that water tight doors and firehoses seem to need the most work; sanding the back side of them to make them accurate. Some of the other parts, like liferafts, also need some attention for mold seams and sprue. For the superstructure, I've used thin aircraft ply (down to 1/32 inch) and styrene with good results.
