First, What is F5B(S)? It is a multi task electric sailplane event where the emphasis is on speed. The first task is a 200 second distance flight around a 150 meter course. The engine can only be run off course, you must glide around the pylons. The goal is go get the most number of laps in the 200 second time. The second task is an timed duration task of 5 or 10 minutes. The motor can be used during this task but motor run counts against time. Landing over or under the task time also counts against the pilot. The final task is of course landing, the spot is up to 3 meters in diameter.

This event is very easy to fly, it is very hard to fly well. I am calling it an F5B(S) because we will not be following any particular airplane rules. While there are task designed airplanes they are in limited supply locally. Also, I want to keep this fun and open to everyone so there will only be four aircraft classes, unlimited, 10 cell, 7 cell and speed 400. The speed 400 class is basically an open class so bring anything you have with an electric motor, from an Aspire to a Zagi. The goal of this event is to have fun and possibly generate local interest in this type of flying.
