Hi guys,
Have some small rare earth magnets that are 1/4" dia and very strong.
Planning on using them for secure the canopy of my Oly2, and possibly to keep the spoilers retracted (String pull system).
Have done a search but come up dry.
One question...
Any chance these magnets could interfere with the radio system??
Thanks
Rob

I saw them used on a Paragon, but I've seen the canopy come off in flight. I use them on my spoilers with a piece of broken Exacto #11 blade. They work nicely. Never heard of them interfering with the radio...

I used them on a Destiny (sloper) and I found they need a little help, like a way of locating the canopy in a way that it cant be pushed out of place. If it gets pushed out the hold lessens. I ended up using my old standby ball link in the canopy/ball joint ball on the fuse/wire locating pin in the front. For your spoilers its probably plenty, but I think its a little light for a canopy.

Rob,
from experience I would use the screw down method of holding down the hatch cover on your OLY2 and use the magnets for the spoliers.

If anybody gets ahold of those new AOL disk holders that are made out of cardboard--- they have a magnet or two in them...and they seem more than capable of holding spoilers down. I wouldn't use them with the canopy though.
Just thought I'd share that. At least it makes the AOL disk crap that people get in the mail worth something more than a coaster!!!

Thanks for the responses. I was planning on installing them to firmly hold the canopy in position, in addition to using an elastic band betwwen the canopy and fus.
Was going to try it today, but as I was about to mix the epoxy the magnets went missing. Can't find them anywhere! Don't know what they attached themselves to...I'll find them eventually.
These little magnets are very powerful. As mentioned, I was planning on using them to hold the spoilers in the retracted position...but I'm not sure the servos will overcome them.
I'll get back to looking for the little suckers.
Cheers,
Rob
