A little more info whould help. What type of car and engine are you running. What type of clutch is it. Have you removed the clutch bell and inspected the shoes? It is not uncommon for high output engines 1+ hp to melt the shoes after a large amount of use. There could be other issues however. Check the pilot shaft has it come loose? If so the engine can turn without spinng the flywheel. Also check the drivetrain for binding. Small amounts of binding in the drivetrain can melt a clutch very quickly.

Hope this helps.

No jingle noises or grinding?
On my HPI I usually separate the clutch bell from the gear its "attatched" to. It makes a jingle noise before it goes, then a grinding after.

Could be slipper clutch too, check adjustment.

Start it up with the cover off and run it..see where things are spinning and where they are not.

:( sorry for not supplying enough info :(

it's a hpi rush evo, i'm running a t-15 through it but i'm not sure what kind of clutch it is....

the flywheel is definately spinnig but the clutch isn't i thought it might have come lose whilst i was playing with it but it is probably something else.

Cheers for the info i will try those things and see how it turns out

Thanks again

Hey Rusted,

I was just checking out that truck on HPI site. Nice truck by the way very similar to my RC10GT. Anyways I noticed that is actually has two clutches on it. One on the nitro engine and slipper clutch on the transmission. Your problem my be as simple as tightening up the slipper a little (they tend to loosen themselves). If that is not the problem it could be one other thing. How high is your idle set? If it is two high and you always have to apply the brakes to keep the truck still than the clutch would constantly be getting worn and very hot. This will generate a fair amount of slippage very quickly in your run and will wear out a clutch at 3 times the normal speed.

Sounds like new clutch shoes about all I can think of logically...look for reasons they went out already. Slipper too tight? Brakes too tight?

Brakes too tight is "supposedly" a common issue acording to instructions with my mt2 /shrug

Whatever it is, its time to pull the engine so you can get at the bolt on the front and pull the clutchbell to take a look...could be something else.

it's ok i found the problem :D

i jst took of the spure gear and took a look at the slipper plate and pad, thepad was waering thin. so i took it off and turned and put it back on the other way around and it seems to work amazingly well.

:D thanks for all the trouble :D

Cheers Chris
