Okay, I figure some of you guys know construction. I have a shed outdoors that I am going to use as a workshop. It has plywood flooring and I was wondering if I could put vinyl floor squares over it. But since it is subject to strong temp variations, is that not a good idea due to expansion/contraction?

What are my options?

Thanks! :)

I'm going to go check out this stuff at Home Depot. Floor paint:

Hi Kmot,

Paint is probably ideal, as if you ever knock over various thinners/cleaners/resins it won't melt or deform as vinyl may :) (ahem... Not speaking from experience or anything...)

Added bonus, any spills can be painted over.

How big is your shed? (I can almost smell the fibreglass curing now  )

I have an 8x10 foam backed piece of commercial carpet on a cement basement floor. The weave is very flat and tight and the carpet is pretty thin - cheap stuff for sure. Shop vac cleans it up pretty well. You can get remnants as cheap as a good paint would cost.
As it gets stained, dirty, etc, just pull it up and replace it.
A plus - small parts don't bounce very far when you drop them...

Hi more important is the insulation because when the sun comes out it can get very very hot!. Buy some cheep foam from the DIY stores and line the roof and the sides (Inside) it also makes the shed useable in the winter Bonus. :D I would not be without my “office” :) ;) :D
if i have already posted this i am sorry :o

kmot, have a look at interlocking floor mat, I belive they come in a 3x3 foot sections and can also be easily trimmed to fit , very ergonomic, should also be guite thrifty as well , if you ever spill anything it cant withstand simply pull out the "puzzle " piece and replace it. will stand up to temp. extremes with no problems.I have seen it locally at pep boys , and sears I think John
