Hi guys,

Did anybody save a copy of TurboCAD 2D 6.5 that LMSI was giving out for free a few months back? I liked that little program, but they no longer have it on their site, and I lost it in a recent computer failure. If so, can you please PM or email me, thanks.

Also if anyone is interested, PTC is offering Pro-E Desktop Express (a fully featured 2D 3D mid level CAD program) for free now at...

http://www.ptc.com/products/desktop/

I'm downloading this now and will give my impression of it after I give it a good workout if any one is interested.

Any luck? I'm in the same boat - using 6.5 but upgraded my home PC and now can't run 6.5 there, only at work!

Help!

You can download it here:
http://www.imsisoft.com/free/

It's called turbocad v4 learning edition now.

LE is not the same, it's not compatible with AutoCad 2000, or even TC-2Dv6.5....

If 6.5 won't cut it, I'd suggest searching for AutoCad LT on some of the discount sites, for an achedemic version... ~$100

I just tried downloading that 'free' version of TurboCad - went through all the registration etc. etc. and they e-mailed me a link for the download. Only problem is that the link page only shows links for the help files and the tutorial, NOT the program itself!
Anybody else had better luck?

Hi Guys
You can find TurboCad 2d (ver 6.5) here:
http://www.modellbauerauktion.de/dxf_files/
It is about the 5 or 6th dowmload. Even though this is a German Site, the CAD is in english.

The link given above is the correct link for the free version of TurboCAD. Or you can goto: http://www.turbocad.com/products/2dcentral.cfm. Just fill out the form and they will send you a link to download. The page appears that it's just for the documentation, but read the large icon above that says "download". I have downloaded it 3 times in the past month. It saves in DXF format and therefore can be read by AutoCAD. It took me awhile to figure out where it moved to also, but it is still there.

While your at the german site, look at all the plans in the references above the turbocad.

That German site worked great! Thanks for the link. I've installed it and it works. I haven't registered it yet, but I'm assuming that lmsi still supports it.

Just a note on TurboCAD LE 4.1 and AutoCAD compatibility.

Sometimes TurboCAD chokes on a file. It does not like newer DXF files.

If the drawing is loaded into AutoCAD and then saved as a R12 file it will work in Turbo CAD.

Just my 2 cents.

Dear All

I know this thread was some time ago now but does anyone still have a copy of Turbo Cad 2D - the free version? I'd be very grateful if anyone can send it to me.

If this is no longer available, would anyone have a any recommendations for a good, freeware CAD program?

Cheers

Many thanks. I'll give that a try. If I'm not wrong, this is the version that replaced Turbo Cad 2D?

it was version 4.1 (=LE) when I downloaded it ages ago. Not sure about 2D.

try this for Turbocad LE: http://www.freecad.com/
click on the title (TurboCAD LE), not imsisoft.com to download it
