Every now and then I see a reference to head speed of a heli, as in- 1800rpm
etc.
What I would like to know is..how do you find out what speed its at in the
first place? My venture 50 only shows as ...nice blades....nice
blurr...wheres my blades?
Dont think I can fix the cars tacho to it....lol

Check this out:

It's not cheap and you'll need a friend to work it for you while you fly the
helicopter but it works very well. There may be other brands on the market
but this is the one that I'm most familiar with.

Fly Safe,

The above Tachometer works very well at 19.99 GBP + postage.

Yeah, that will work, but you've got to stand way to close to the model to
use it.

JMO!

Not too close if the blade tips are coloured white and you have a darkish
background.

I've also used it with header blades on my Raptor 30 with good effect.

On the same site there is a heli tail boom mounted tachometer. How that
works I have no idea. Well I guess how it works but how do you read it?

Ok! I stand corrected! :-D

The tail boom mounted unit looks interesting. I've not seen anything like
that before. If you've got good enough eye sight to see the model at any
distance, I'd think that reading the display shouldn't be too much trouble.
I could be wrong. I don't know if it's got this feature but it would be
nice if it would store the highest rpm reading until powered down.

Just a thought!
Fly Safe,
Steve R.
