XFC 2005 - Flyit.com Full Scale Heli Simulator

Spectators and pilots were given the opportunity to fly a full-scale heli simulator in the flyit.com trailer. The simulation uses Microsoft Flight Sim for rendering but the software has been highly customized for acceptance by the FAA. Using this simulator, would-be rotor pilots can log hours toward their full-scale license.

I put an hour on it at the Toledo funfly. What an experience, fun and air conditioned too. If you get the opportunuty RC heli pilot or not, do it. It gives you an appreciation for the the limitations of the full size birds, for the wide performance envelope of the RC models, and the skills of the full scale pilot. More than ever I want my full scale papers. Thanks Steve!
