View Full Version : Will this Zagi Fly?

I've committed to helping with a project using a 48'' Zagi, AXI 2212/20, 7.5 x 5 prop, and 3 cell Kokam 3200. Sounds OK so far, right? Problem is the AUW needs to be around 64 oz. Has anyone ever attempted flying this much weight on a similar setup? Everything I've learned about e-flight says such high wingloading and low watts should be unflyable.
With a more powerful motor, can a Zagi be flown with the wingloading up around 22-24 oz/sf?
Thanks,
Frank

Sure it can.....with enough horsepower a boulder will fly, only not very well or very far. I can't even imagine what it's landing speed would have to be.
Why must it weigh so much?

I know with enough power almost anything will fly. The question is, has anyone flown one of these puppies this heavy, and just how good or bad are it's flight characteristics. The wingloading of this thing doesn't worry me as much as the low watts per pound.
This company I'm helping is working on something which requires the high weight.
