I would with out a doubt go with a few Zig Zags or the Hobbico Aquacraft Reef Racer 2. Both are RTR requiring only 8 AA batteries. Towerhobbies carries them for around $80 a piece and ebay has them even cheaper. They are very quick and agile. For a small pond like you describe don't get anything much bigger.

Sharper-Image carries a boat very similar if not the same. If you live close to one of these stores. A very good choice.

The Sharper Image used to sell the Zig Zag Racer. ;)

Another question, What about the Hovercraft boats, are they any good and can you have as much fun with those as the regular boats.
Sorry for all the questions but i want to buy the right ones to get the most fun.

The only experience I had with hovercrafts were far and few. I dealt with the Tyco Typhoon way back when and it was not cut out to be anything. The only real one I have seen was great. It was pretty slow and would not go through the waves but hey, was it really meant to. I would suggest a boat for simplicity and decent expectations. But then again, it's your money not mine. Have fun and try to get some friends into it, especially the zig zag size boats, they're funner with several. Good luck. Put in reef racer in your google and you can find them cheaper than I thought. Around 55 in some places.

Thanks everyone, people keep bringing up suggestions so I keep asking, sorry about all this but I’m new at this.
The reason I was thinking of either the mini boats 5" long or the hovercrafts was because I have an 18x38 in ground pool with a vinyl liner, that's my HUGE concern. I don't want to punch a hole it from crashing into it all the time.

AquaCraft has the tugboat with the small rubber tires hanging down on both sides of the boat as well as a soft rubber boot on the bow. But the price is approx $250.00. Check the Tower website. It has a fiberglass hull which is more durable than the plastic hull boats.

redsback, trust me.......your 18x38 pool is plenty big enough for zigzags/reefracers and you can turn them on a dime. Did you see my video? You won't hit your pool walls. Micro boats (5") are a joke and you won't be happy............

yes I saw the video and thought it was awesome, I wanted to jump in the monitor and take over for you. I was watching it thinking those would ne great with a cigar a drink and the remote. LOL
Thanks for everyones help, i'm learning a bit about these boats and know i'll have fun when I get them. Don't go away because i'm sure i'll have more questions. You guys have been real helpful.

Looks like it will do the job. It's 9" overall with a strut and rudder so the hull itself is probably 7".

Kmot - I tried this link and could find no video. I'd like to check it out though. Do you know where else I can find it?
Thanks,
Mr. Toes

Yeah, stupid rcpics.net keeps purging their files every three months or so and I have had more than 70 videos wiped out without warning so many times I am done with them.
Sorry, it's not up on the internet right now. I could e-mail it to you if your e-mail program won't crash.
