I am just finishing building a Miss Stick designed by Tom Hunt. This model uses the cracked rib wing building method in which a balsa stick is cracked at the spar and the ends glued to the leading and traiing edges to form the upper suface of a rib. A turbulator spar is then glued about half way between the leading edge and the spar. The three straight lines approximate a curve. There was a p-30 free flight rubber design called the Hot Box that appeared in Model Builder magazine years ago that used this method. Does anyone know any more about this airfoil?

Other than it's an appropriate shape for the task.. there's not much more information needed.

Ditto on what Sparky Paul said. I guess the point is that it results in a reasonably efficient auto-turbulated airfoil for low Reynolds numbers, and you don't have to cut any ribs. I don't mind cutting ribs, but some folks find it tedious. ;)

It gets used a lot on rubber powered FAC Free Flight events.
